This module is a part of the introductory online course “Data Steward Training”. In this course learners will develop the skills and gain knowledge on how to be a successful data steward. 

By the end of this module, learners will:

• Understand different types of RDM services which their institution or organisation may need to provide. 

• Be able to use the RISE model to plan and develop your RDM services.

This module is suitable for data stewards and trainers seeking introductory learning material. It will take on average one hour to complete the module. 

The materials include a video presentation, a full video transcript, a PowerPoint presentation and a learning activity to support learning.   

This learning material has been developed in collaboration with the FAIRsFAIR and EOSC Synergy projects. The majority of the material has been used in previous online data steward instructor training workshops in 2020 and 2021.

This learning material has been developed in collaboration with the FAIRsFAIR and EOSC Synergy projects and has been adapted from the Data Steward Instructor Training Workshops run throughout 2020 and 2021.

• Be able to make data FAIR by using a set of practical guidelines and tools.

• Understand the range of skills and knowledge associated with data stewardship.

• Be aware of different approaches to stewardship service provision.

• Be able to identify key elements that help make research data discoverable, accessible, interoperable and reusable.

• Be able to practise making data FAIR. 

This module is suitable for data stewards and trainers seeking introductory learning material. It will take around 1 hour and 30 minutes to complete the module. 

The materials include video presentations, full video transcripts, PowerPoint presentations and various learning activities and resources to support learning.

This presentation was given as part of the  FAIRsFAIR-CODATA-RDA Data Steward Training Series which was held virtually on 11 December 2020 with the National University of Costa Rica. 

The session explored issues  to be considered when developing Research Data Management policies and related support services. The session aimed to ensure that participants were:

• able to develop realistic and well scoped RDM policies

• aware of free resources that are available to help build capacity for RDM service delivery and support

This presentation was prepared using materials that have been developed and/or adapted by the Digital Curation Centre (DCC). Attributions to reused open content are provided where relevant in the slides.  

An introduction for data stewards into open and responsible research, covering Responsible Conduct of Research, Open Science and Responsible Research and Innovation. This forms part of the CODATA/RDA/FAIRsFAIR data steward training.

This presentation was delivered virtually for Botswana Open University Library on 17th May 2021 as part of a Foundational Data Stewardship Workshop. It is primarily aimed at data stewards but can also be useful to researchers and RDM service providers and should be viewed in conjunction with these two other presentations that were part of the same workshop:

As part of the project FDMentor, a German-language train-the-trainer program on research data management was created and piloted in a series of workshops. The comments and tips from the participants in the two pilot phases and the feedback from the relevant community were gradually incorporated over 2019. The second version of the train-the-trainer concept now available offers a revised script with the contents of the teaching units, detailed teaching scripts, working materials, lecture slides and numerous worksheets and templates that are intended to support teaching. The topics covered include both aspects of research data management, such as data management plans and the publication of research data, as well as didactic units on learning concepts.

The Directory gathers resources which are already available across various institutional websites. Information on relevant documents, training activities, tools, and support services resulting from past and current CESSDA projects and SP activities have been collected, selected, and reviewed specifically for this purpose. The Resource Directory is therefore a curated inventory of these resources. In order to guide the users within the Directory, specific labels, descriptions, and metadata were applied to index and define the resources. The labels and metadata can be used for a more user-friendly search, allowing easy and rapid access to the resources of interest.
