Report

This report provides recommendations regarding Rules of Participation for training as well as recommendations regarding practical guidance for training service providers. It is based on the workshop that took place from 26-28 February 2020 in The Hague, The Netherlands. The workshop was organised by DANS in collaboration with EUDAT, EGI and OpenAIRE.

The document describes the design of a new, cross-domain infrastructure for improving the usability of digital heritage information beyond the boundaries of archives, libraries, museums and research institutes. The design is high-level because it describes the distributed network, not for instance ist organizational or technical considerations.

ALLEA report “Sustainable and FAIR Data Sharing in the Humanities” provides key recommendations to make digital data in the humanities “Findable, Accessible, Interoperable and Reusable”, in line with the FAIR principles. The document is designed as a practical guide to help scholars, research funders, professionals and policymakers navigate the shift towards a sustainable data sharing culture.

The task forces are a new programme in OpenAIRE Advance to enable capacity building, competencies and awareness raising on different relevant open science topics, involving all partners and NOADs, demonstrating a vertical approach for knowledge exchange. NOADs with more engaged activity levels are involved throughout and are also encouraged to facilitate these groups, aiming to strengthen understanding, steer project activities and, mobilise community ties.

In OpenAIRE Advance there are three task forces (at the bottom of the page you find useful resources (guidelines, blogs, checklists, etc):

• Policies for Open Access and Open Science
• Research Data Management
• Legal Guidelines for Research Performing Organisations (RPOs)

As part of the project FDMentor, a German-language train-the-trainer program on research data management was created and piloted in a series of workshops. The comments and tips from the participants in the two pilot phases and the feedback from the relevant community were gradually incorporated over 2019. The second version of the train-the-trainer concept now available offers a revised script with the contents of the teaching units, detailed teaching scripts, working materials, lecture slides and numerous worksheets and templates that are intended to support teaching. The topics covered include both aspects of research data management, such as data management plans and the publication of research data, as well as didactic units on learning concepts.

Data Archiving and Networked Services (DANS) is the Netherlands institute for permanent access to digital research resources.

Since 2005, DANS has been supporting researchers, data professionals, other data archives, research institutions and research financiers with questions in the field of data management, certification, and topics such as FAIR, open access and software sustainability.

In addition to data services, DANS also offers training and consultancy.

We regularly organise interactive workshops on data publishing, archiving, reusability and interoperability.
