Open Data for Humanists, A Pragmatic Guide

This resource is a guide that proposes a different approach to data management. It aims at giving practical advice for arts and humanities scholars who are willing to take their first steps in research data management but don't know where to begin. Our approach to data management views it as a reflective process that exposes and tweaks existing behaviours, rather than one that introduces specific tools. It is intended to encourage awareness of one’s own processes and mindfulness about how they could be more open and how and how small changes across three points in your research workflow can make big differences.

Open Science Training Handbook

A group of fourteen authors came together in February 2018 at the TIB (German National Library of Science and Technology) in Hannover to create an open, living handbook on Open Science training. High-quality trainings are fundamental when aiming at a cultural change towards the implementation of Open Science principles. Teaching resources provide great support for Open Science instructors and trainers.

The Open Science training handbook will be a key resource and a first step towards developing Open Access and Open Science curricula and andragogies. Supporting and connecting an emerging Open Science community that wishes to pass on their knowledge as multipliers, the handbook will enrich training activities and unlock the community’s full potential.

How to Reuse the FOSTER Toolkit

In this moderated course you will learn how to reuse the FOSTER toolkit on any other context like the website or the Learning Management System (LMS) of your institution.

The Open Science Toolkit https://www.fosteropenscience.eu/toolkit consists of ten online courses addressing key Open Science topics: What is Open Science?; Best practices; Managing and Sharing Research Data; Open source software and workflows; Data protection and Ethics; Open Licensing; Open access publishing; Sharing preprints; Open peer review; and Open Science and innovation.

This moderated course is available in the FOSTER Learning Management System platform.

Manage, improve and open up your research and data

This module looks at emerging trends and best practice in data management, quality assessment and IPR issues. It looks at policies regarding data management and their implementation, particularly in the framework of a Research Infrastructure.
